Did you know that the Élysée Val d’Europe hotel is just an hour from the famous palace and park of Fontainebleau – a UNESCO world heritage site!
UNESCO is a big fan of the Seine-et-Marne region
Seine-et-Marne, home to our 4-star hotel, is now home to two UNESCO world heritage sites: the medieval town of Provins, and the palace and park of Fontainebleau. French kings used the hunting lodge, situated in the heart of an Ile-de-France forest of Fontainebleau, in the 12th century. During the 16th century, Francois I embellished, transformed, and expanded the lodge in an attempt to create the “new Rome.”
A breathtaking castle in the heart of a lush park
Surrounded by a huge park, the Fontainebleau castle is inspired by Italian architecture, and brings together Renaissance art traditions with French classic style. Today, centuries after it was built (it dates back to 1528), the castle is open for visits every day except Tuesdays, January 1st, May 1st, and December 25th. Its courtyards and gardens are open every day from 9 AM to 5 PM, 6 PM, or 7PM, depending on the season. Full-price tickets are €12, and reduced-price tickets are available for €10.
